Mardi Gras in New Smyrna
The inaugural “Mardi Gras on Flagler Avenue” will be held Fat Tuesday (February 5) . There will be music and fun for everyone, with live entertainment and special Mardi Gras events taking place at the restaurants and bars on the avenue during the afternoon and evening (from 3:00 p.m.)
The Mardi Gras Parade will begin at 7:00 p.m. from Atlantic Avenue to Pine Street. The street will NOT be closed for Mardi Gras or for the parade, which will be a rolling roadblock like the annual Christmas Parade.
Eleven venues will be participating in Mardi Gras on Flagler Avenue, most of them indoors with a few outdoor events. There will be live music, dancing, special Mardi Gras food items, and lots of beads.
So, be prepared to dress in your best Mardi Gras finery of purple, gold and green, complete with masks and beads if you like. Mark Fat Tuesday, February 5 on your calendar and be prepared to have a good time and enjoy the unique charms that Flagler Avenue has to offer.
